The Hay Group division of Korn Ferry has recently published research showing that women outperform men in 11 of 12 key emotional intelligence competencies. This indicates an effective leadership and management style employing emotional and social competencies.
The research showed that women outperformed men in areas including inspirational leadership, conflict management, teamwork and coaching and mentoring, They also demonstrate far more emotional self-awareness than men. The research supports calls for more women in leadership roles as they can support overall improved business performance.
“When you factor in the correlation between high emotional intelligence and those leaders who deliver better business results, there is a strong case for gender equity. Organizations must find ways to identify women who score highly on these competencies and empower them.”
